Jim Wilkerson
Jim is a lifelong resident of Decatur, Illinois. In his poetry he likes to trigger emotion, involve the senses, and capture moments in time. He published a book of poetry about his time as a student at Millikin University in 1996. His 2nd book of poetry, Winter Poems, was published in 2024 and won 2nd place in the ISPS Book of the Year Contest. He also has works published in Collage, The Decaturian, Folio, TKE Today, More Big Thoughts, Treasured Poems of America, and Quill & Parchment. He won first place in the 2023 Winnetka Public Library Poetry Contest. He is a member of the Illinois State Poetry Society, the Academy of American Poets, and the founder of Decatur Area Poets – a local poetry group that meets monthly at the Decatur Library.
